FTSE 100 gains 0.50% at open (AFP)
AFP - The London stock market gained ground in opening deals on Thursday after turbulent trade this week, with a gain of 0.50 percent to stand at 5,176.60 points.
Reuters - Fortune Brands Inc reported a quarterly profit that topped Wall Street's lowered expectations on Friday, after the consumer products maker had warned that weak consumer sentiment, the U.S. housing slump and higher taxes would depress earnings more than expected.

If you are dealing with a problem individual and need a paper trail in case a layoff is necessary, an employee written notice is a good place to start. It's difficult to lay off anyone, but a good letter can ease the pain of a dismissing. In addition, you must draft a worker termination letter and conduct an exit interview. It should clearly spell out and document the reasons why you sacked the employee. Although the leave is unpaid, the law compels you to continue the employee's group health coverage and pay the employer's part of the premium during the time off. For previous incidents, you informally counseled and coached the problem worker on how to upgrade. Instead we are talking about dismissing workforce whose work productivity is poor. As a result, you won't have just one difficult individual - you'll have an entire firm filled with them.
Failure to Perform Quality Work: If an employee has failed to perform their work with acceptable quality, you have likely counseled them before firing them. A blatantly insubordinate individual may refuse to do the task and subject you to abusive, profane, or threatening comments. As a manager or supervisor, you may feel that a worker's actions warrant immediate layoff or sacking them before their contract expires. After reviewing this list, build your case by compiling a list of eyewitnesses and papers proving these facts. Also, if the employee is the type to sue, rate her as a "medium risk" termination and give her a package in return for a release. it's expensive to recruit productive personnel. Due to the conditions of your termination, further suit will be in place and firm legal advisers will be in contact to discuss conditions of repaying the business for (stolen or misused) business items.
